Another company manufactured components for pumps that are used in the conveying industry approached us for a solution on variability in the component resulting in earlier failure. This had resulted in a high rejection rate and internal scrap levels.
The component was manufactured using rubber and weaved fabric and the lack of consistency in the process resulted in an improper component. Although the company had worked to improve the component, this issue could not be solved.
R&I Material Solutions Ltd worked with the customer to innovate the process such that the position of the weaved fabric was centralized within the rubber and a superior performance of the component was established without any scrap.
